Marva Straker, also known as 'Teacher Marva'

Marva Straker, also known as 'Teacher Marva' of Maran, St. John, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at the age of 60.

She was the beloved daughter of: Catherine Gloria Straker and Zepherin Chiddick of Darbeau, St. George, Loving mother of: Lavon Straker Ross who resides in the UK and Tanika Straker Teacher at JW Fletcher Catholic Secondary school,  Cherished grandmother of: Jerdai Ross and Donnica Ross, Mother-in-law of: Daniel Ross.

Sister of: Junior Straker, Ann-Marie Straker, Joseph Chiddick, Pinky Pierre, Sandra Pierre, Jimmy James, Gilian (Tiny) Matthew, Lesliann (Fatty) Alexander, Claire Alexander, Ricky Alexis and Anthony Alexis. Sister-in-law of: Sherma Straker

Aunt of many including: Lexie and Kyle Straker, Niece of: Maujorie Straker and Rosaline Straker, Cousin of many including; Carlye Straker, Shon Straker, Marlon Hosten, Laurie Straker, Jenny Benjamin, Paula Harris, Cheryl Straker, Carnice Straker, Listra Augustine, Angela Straker, Don-Marie Straker, Daniel Straker, Danielle Straker Langaigne. Cherished friend to: Lydan James, Berlyn Mitchell, Marcia Morris Ogilvie, Stephon Paul, Christine Hacket, Rhahanna Hacket, Kelly Forsyth, David Ferguson and Shane Barrett.

Funeral service on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the St. Peter’s R.C. Church, Gouyave, and interment at Douglaston Cemetery.
